Hi! I'm Bruno.
This description of Ernest Shackleton in Endurance sums me up pretty well:
“He was, above all, an explorer in the classic mold—utterly self-reliant, romantic, and just a little swashbuckling.”
I'm interested in the art of company building, and currently a professional mover and shaker at an individual data ownership startup. I'm also finishing up a master's at Columbia in data science.
Previously, I did my undergrad at Carnegie Mellon in information systems and machine learning. While I was there, I ran the effective altruism club and founded the AI safety club (which later grew much beyond what I ever imagined!).
I like the idea of owning a small set of core ideas for a long time. So far these are my candidates:
- minimalism
- explore then exploit
- don't be the best, be the only
- thinking in layers
- regret minimization
